SciFi and Fantasy Art: Bathtime for the Big Guy

Well, I agreed to an art trade with Ruth M. Jepson and turned my attention to this picture from her gallery.

I have a habit of looking at a situation like a dragon tamer and dragon and thinking about the dya-to-day things they'd have to do. Feeding, grooming, mucking out (ergh!) and I decided that it would be fun to draw one of those. Bathtime turned out to be the winner, especially when I doodled the big guy with his tongue hanging out and tail wagging!

Notes: I left off a lot of the costume from the man because, well, most sensible people would go about scrubbing down a large dragon without having their jewellery and mesh sleeves on. T-shirt and trousers and ... waders...?  Also, the fiendish detail of the dragon's scales wasn't intended until I made a royal screw-up and had to cover it. Half a second of screw-up, and half an hour of repair work. Oi.

Pink bubbles! Whee.

Oh, he looks so happy getting his bath. The purple tongue is good and the wagging tail conveys a nice, happy puppy attitude. Very adorable and I love the dragon's expression.
